London to benefit from major medical conference

Next year, London will host the European Association of Urology (EAU) Annual Congress. This will be the first time the event has been held in the city for almost 30 years, and will bring in around 12,000 medical professionals.

The EAU congress takes place at ExCel, London’s International Convention Centre (ICC), which is becoming one of the most popular venues in London for conferences and other major events.

Running for five days, there will be an EAU exhibition alongside the congress, where suppliers can showcase new products and innovative technology. The whole event is set to boost the city’s economy by £41.7 million.

Top conference destination

The announcement of this key international conference taking place in the capital signals the importance of the city as a destination for events and conferences, especially amongst the medical sector.

There are already two other major medical congresses due to be held in 2016. The European League Against Rheumatism will hold their annual congress in June, followed by the European Respiratory Society in September.

London has shown on many occasions how it can host major events. With quality venues, such as ExCel, which has a prime position by the Thames, as well as a range of unusual venues in London, there are plenty of options for conference organisers.

Seen as a modern, vibrant city that offers much to the medical community, London also has the historical element that sets it apart.

A bright future for conference hosting in London is anticipated as a growing number of European and global medical associations bring their gatherings to the city.
