London comes out top in global travel poll

A new study looking at the best places to visit in the world has unveiled London in top position, beating cities such as New York, Rome, and Prague in providing value for money and quality of entertainment.

The results were revealed as part of the TripAdvisor Travellers’ Choice Awards. Analysis of reviews for hotels, cities, entertainment, and restaurants across a 12-month period showed which regions came out on top.

In 2015, London was sixth in position but has now risen to the number one spot, ahead of the likes of Paris and Marrakech, and takes the crown for the first time since 2012.

London booming

This news shows that London is still benefitting from the legacy of the Olympic Games in 2012, with many tourist venues in London seeing increased numbers of visitors.

The city is home to many iconic attractions, such as The London Eye and The Houses of Parliament. London’s rich cultural heritage is alive in the museums and galleries, including The Natural History Museum and the Victoria and Albert Museum, and the exciting entertainment calendar, from The Boat Race to Wimbledon, helps attract leisure and business visitors to the capital.

As well as the high overall rating on its facilities and value for money, London also scored well when it came to individual hotels.

This year London will see many important events, including celebrations to mark the Queen’s 90th birthday, taking place in April. There are also annual festivals and events, as well as quality tourist attractions, such as London boat hire companies, to entertain tourists and keep them coming back to the capital.
